I'm not sure most of you understand that he's asking a really small fee by today's standards. That would be pocket money for a wealthy heiress like Giselle and even working people in real life earning a decent wage could normally afford it rather easily. So I kinda don't get why you're cursing him so much, or do you maybe not realise that 500 pounds isn't even worth a third of the money and effort spent to help Giselle and educate Isaac?
At first I didn't even understand why Giselle herself was so shocked by his demand. But then I remembered that this story is set in a fictional version of the 1800's, and a quick Google search informed me that 500 pounds in that time equals 39,000 pounds nowadays. Now her reaction makes a lot more sense. Ngl that's a hefty price and blondie must be some kind of con artist because ain't no way his efforts were worth all that money.
This is a good explanation thanks for the info. I do have to say since we don’t know if she has any money right now (probably not), people are a little shocked just like her.
I don't hate the guy at all, I kinda agree that he could have waited like a little bit, like even an hour or something, but to me, it seems somewhat fair to ask for some form of compensation
