I didn't quite get the last chapter :(( what did sakai-mean when he said it was his chance? like about wearing shizuka's ring?

Sakai thought that Shizuka loosing his memories was his chance at giving him a normal life. He felt that a same sex relationship was holding Shizuka back from a regular family and he thought Shizuka would be happier that way.
