can you please explain why he’s like this?
I mean, not only did he go through years under the beheaded king being groomed, He still got so many things that happened to him before and after that happened. Overworking himself, got seperated from his parents, thinks Wolfgang's carelessness is his fault (earlier chapters). And even got kidnapped and beaten up badly- almost got burned mind you, Gets magical traces from the Duke haiyan arc (Basically like a curse) and lastly getting various of sicknesses due to again, overworking himself
I see people getting frustrated and angry at the fact Shin is stubborn and saying why won't he just accept Wolfgang's love- If you honestly can't understand his character then please at least look back to his past. He think he's not enough and he'll just continue wiping the windows where the golden light shines (Wolfgang). He's been so through much and has trouble making commitment to himself, please see that.
