I can't explain the novel because I haven't read it, but he does look like a female, just very plain features. Anime characters can easily switch their genders if you tweak some of their features. If you are wondering how she also became a male, there will be an explanation for that later on. (=・ω・=)

Im at ch3, this is so questionable. Like why did in the novel it didn't say chloe is a man?? Why did the novel just end like that? And how can he looks like a female in the first place
