I think the story didn't want to go into detail with the investigation of the arson. They only highlight the progress of the investigation.
And about the book. Before this the FL had written all she remembered about the novel on her journal. So she was confused when her journal is blank...

Jokes aside, every time Arsenne makes a “kind” gesture and it being used as comic relief kinda hits me off in a weird way. Like wtf? He’s supposed to be a blackmailer bruh? Also the story pacing feels like a rollercoaster to me lmao, at one point we’re here, and another there. When did they ever say about Arsenne going to an auction to bust it down? Why did they even show it in the first place? It cut so weirdly after the fl was kidnapped that I was like: “W-what…wtf just happened? Where are we?”. One more thing is the blank book, idk if I just read to fast but I never saw the fl with a book that was significant to the story? I’m getting whiplashed so fast I don’t even know what happening….
