Like, to me, he acknowledged that his feelings were veering towards pettiness so he tried to quash them but in the end, he showed his irritation (and his insecurity) in the pettiest way
he honestly should of just said it right off the bat instead of being petty cs it caused them to argue and it was so unnecessary
