No it's not. Abuse is not 'fighting like cats and dogs' or vice versa. So I hope you were being sarcastic.

I think ppl forget he was a kid when this all started. From his POV, she was the villain and in her POV (which we read from) he is a villain. Although it can be considered abuse it’s narrow minded to believe their relationship can’t evolve.

being a kid should not excuse abuse ofc it doesn’t have the same malicious level of intent as an adult being abusive but it still comes from bad intentions and has a bad impact.

    Okay hear me out.
I am in no way supporting abuse or saying he needs to be forgiven easily. But this has to be cleared out. He has never actually actively abused her. It was the brothers from her previous life that were extra
He was mean to her and chose to dissociate himself from her matters completely.
If you think it this way : you have a sister and suddenly she is lost. Then someone else comes replacing her while you are still in shock n you find her praying she doesn’t return. Mind you, in his mind as a young child that can be the worse thing ever. To him she was a villain and a constant reminder of someone he lost. She wasn’t quite loving to him either (which he didn’t deserved too)
So he just ignored her and didn’t have idea on how worse she was being treated. When he saw the food n needles marks, he was livid and ashamed. He rectified it. The only way he knew. And when she told him about how his words made her into a thief n a villain, he realized that she was just a kid too. Like he was and has been trying to be better. But he doesn’t know how. No one has ever taught him how. Still he is trying...
It has a potential to grow into a tender relationship if they solve all the misunderstandings and learn to forgive.

he did not totally disassociate as we know he’d pull harmful pranks as she addressed. he framed her for stealing and would verbally harass her on multiple occasions. as we know verbal abuse exists and his lack of empathy towards a girl his age even if he saw her as a villian shows a malicious almost psychopathic side of his. just bc she gains favorability of his and he acts nicer doesn’t automatically diminish the fact he is capable of acting like that. as a character as a whole not just as a mean brother, he’s the typical toxic unapologetic bully to “tsundere” character.
