I think it's alluding to the fact that this could all have been a set up. Probably has to do with the talk about the Konrad representative, which happened earlier due to Ercella interference.
I agree, it seemed really suspicious and too convenient for certain parties to be coincidental.
So what if the affair was discovered earlier than originally? The FL better not blame herself. The affair was already a thing, so who cares if they were found out sooner than later.
