Oh, I see. I see your point. I agree with some. Maybe I'm just biased because it's Jinwoo. I haven't read the novel so I don't know what happens next. I'll cry if something happened to Thomas or anyone I like on the series But I don't think I'll blame Jinwoo for that. He might be strong and smart but he can make mistakes too.
Yup, that is why this is not the MC we know. Real MC would never do what happened in this chapter.
I'm gonna go and read Omniscient Reader novel again. I need to bleach my brain with some real morally gray main characters that don't hesitate to kill for their comrades and calculate their every step, and don't let the love cloud their action for one another.
Dude, I do not care. I do not care if they had 100000 dates as long as it follows the story flow. I love romance. I love action. I do not love half assed romance action. I'd rather they had more romance so it at least made sense! Your excuse of the author wanting more action and less romance, there are still thousand better ways to show his growing interest in someone, something they didn't bother to show here (from what I read in the novel the transition from romance to action and vice versa was executed quite well actually).
As I said and will probably have to repeat every time, I love both genes, I simply hate when ANY 2 geners are smashed together with no prior context. That is why most action movies suck, because they simply have to add some rando chick that the main protagonist almost dies saving time and tome again, yet knows her for less than a day.
Ah, so the transition is more smooth on the novel? It's already on my list. I'll read it as soon as I have time. My sister told me they skipped a lot of things in the webtoon too.
Ah yeah. Sorry. Got confused you with people who hated this for having romance.
Btw, it's was not an excuse. I just stated what I thought it is. Sorry misunderstood you thou.
Actually that date didn't cost him in that way. Jinwoo's father died protecting him while he's still in the process of completely becoming the shadow sovereign.Jinwoo's father borrowed the Ruler's power beyond his body's capability that's why he was reduced to gray ash. And Jinwoo, having 3 (I repeat THREE) sovereigns ganging up against him with only Beru (already on rank Marshal) at his aid (note that Beru BARELY even stood up against ONE) only managed to kill one sovereign and ended up having his human heart stabbed, frozen and broken. Which triggered the official handling down of the power COMPLETELY and having the former shadow sovereign make some big revelations before entering eternal slumber or void. By this revelations Jinwoo now fully understood what is happening, what will happen and what kinds of enemies he has. All happens for a reason. The author made it that way to make some mind blowing revelations and get us into the story by making us feel various of emotions. You can't expect something that has ACTION as it's genre to not have it's MC suffer some losses. No pain no gain. It's for the character to grow.
There is no official basis what a real MC is. A character is designed by the author including the plot and the twists and turns. It is to make the story ORIGINAL. So please respect the author and stop comparing. If you fully comprehend the events the flow and transition is actually great and everything gets backed up. I repeat everything has a reason. The author made it that way to open new events and some romance are there to only spice things up or open some scenarios.
And technically, Jinwoo didn't fully understood before the power of sovereigns even after having a BRIEF encounter with the sovereign of frost. Like duh, Jinwoo still did not know what and who really are these rulers and sovereigns before the former shadow sovereign revealed everything and answered ALL HIS 'QUESTIONS'. And also he did use teleport using the shadow soldier he planted on the other S class hunter. He wasn't able to teleport immediately because he did not know why the shadow he planted on Thomas disappeared. Because he didn't know that sovereigns can erase or really kill his shadow soldiers.

In the novel i hated this part. Jin Woo literally knows there's a war coming, a huge mysterious gate opened, top hunters are getting executed and we have monarchs who can create pocket dimensions that are hard to detect but he goes on a freaking rom com trip! Like, can he be serious?
