I agree with you but I kinda understand why in almost all stories there is a pairing quite quickly : an omega who isn't paired will be in danger during his heat (same for the alpha btw)
Since most of the different plot that exist are based on that fact.. they pair early
I’ve always found it weird when a couple in omegaverse gets together and then immediately becomes a pair. Like, that’s a life long commitment and sure, of course they love each other, but dating for a couple years before becoming a pair seems more logical. That’s why the ending here with no pair being formed was very refreshing.
