Spoilers, then. This concludes the rest of the novel (though I know I'm forgetting stuff), so it's a LOT.

Aria panics and runs to her room for her hourglass, but Asher was already in the house (he was going to surprise Aria and wound up seeing Mielle push her dad instead), and Asher used his power to escape with Aria. They went to see a merchant very far from Aria's house and bought something on credit to make an alibi, and then ordered a carriage and went on a short vacation, going to two or three other places in the neighboring country/by the border, basically just staying away and buying stuff everywhere.

After about a week, they came back and Aria was immediately put on trial for attempted murder, but they basically went "LOL, how" and showed all these receipts and products and proof that they couldn't possibly be there when Mielle's dad fell down the steps. The maids didn't see her leave the house, but there was an hour or so before the accident where they couldn't account for where Aria was, so there was no way to tie her to the site.

Mielle's dad survived, but he was paralyzed and needed a lot of care. He remembered what happened, but he didn't want to testify that his own beloved daughter tried to murder him in cold blood. Of course, there was no one else there who could have pushed him down the stairs but Mielle, and she was VERY noisy about being there at the time (to accuse Aria, whom no one but her saw).

I don't remember how, but Iris ends up helping Mielle escape abroad to hide in the house of her fiancé (foreign kingdom's prince), where she was treated very well in the weeks following. And at some point (not really clear on when, but it happened before the "war"), Aria's mom tricked her husband into divorcing her, saying it was to protect his wealth and properties.

Anyway, before too long, the prince started sneaking his troops into the country covertly, hiding them in the houses of Iris' family and the other central noble households, waiting for the right moment to attack the kingdom. The troops were terrible guests: they treated the entire trip like a vacation and sponged off the nobles, eating everything and demanding more and more, basically trying to drain all the noble houses' wealth. Mielle's fiancé (Iris' brother) abandoned his family when he heard that the invading army was infiltrating and immediately turned himself in to Asher so that he wouldn't be judged as complicit in his family's conspiracy against the crown.

Later it turns out that the foreign prince went to the same school as Asher and they were friends; his country was wealthy enough that he didn't feel the need to betray his friend to expand his territory (Iris just wasn't that cute). All the nobles went on trial, starting with Iris. The first ones to go on trial usually get the lighter sentences, but Iris was immediately executed. Only a couple conspirators survived the trial; Aria spoke for Mielle and her stepbrother, who were put on parole to rehabilitate them. (Iris' brother wasn't killed or imprisoned, but he lost his noble title because he didn't turn himself in the instant he learned of his sister's plans.) The stepbrother was saved "to care for his father" because once the war was over, Aria and her mom bought their own house (with the ex's money, since mom tricked him out of EVERYTHING), and as a divorced couple, mom had no obligation to care for him. And Mielle was spared "out of the goodness of Aria's heart."

Aria basically used her redhead maid to abuse Mielle, while Aria treated Mielle well and everyone acted like Mielle was being shown mercy she didn't deserve (after trying to frame Aria for attempted murder). Mielle eventually lost it and decided to poison Aria: however, her brother showed up unexpectedly during one of his breaks from work and was the one who ended up drinking the poisoned tea. He died immediately, and Mielle was sent to prison again for murder (and was disowned by her father, because regardless of what she did to him, he couldn't forgive Mielle murdering her own brother).

Aria confronted Mielle over her actions in the past life, villain monologing why she did what she did, and Mielle went to her execution thinking that Aria was insane. And of course, Aria happily watched Mielle die (while shedding crocodile tears for the public to see), and immediately after decided to dedicate the rest of her life to living happily in love with Asher.

Meanwhile, Aria's mom reconnected with Aria's birth father, found out he was royalty, and her and Aria went to the neighboring country to meet his family. Aria was only going to be there a week or so, but her grandma wouldn't let her go until after Aria's mom got married and Asher personally came to bring Aria back to his kingdom to get married as well. Aria really loves her grandma, though, so they promise to visit each other in the future.

And I think that's basically everything. All the important stuff, anyway.
