He may not understand but he understands what pain is and what causes . He knew the her father hated her he knew she wasn’t being treated right yet he took away her one happinness for years and that is Elle
Because he was ordered to it’s not like he wanted to. He felt indebted to her father, also one of the conditions was to show her no love. Though that doesn’t make it any better.
I’ll just be saying this and realistic terms if this was me and I was Elle’s mom I probably wouldn’t forgive him or give into the father. But my sentimental side/empathic side feels like we should give them a chance just because he never had a good father example himself so how would he know how to be a father or a good husband?
