I think Aubrey was mentally unwell. The way she couldn't read the atmosphere and confessed and defended her actions so confidently was not the actions of a sane person. Even until her death it seems she didn't know what she did wrong. It's a pity her family was dragged down by her
yea, that's what I thought. They thought she would die, so they never bothered to teach her right and wrong and instead gave her the world, which I think is not healthy. So she thought that's what she deserves aka Cedric and being Duchess.
