i do i all the time. it creates a tension that makes my heart ache so much, and its such a better plot. it also creates way more emotion and events.
I do this in every couple in literature that i fucking hate, but if it's my otp i call it my guilty pleasure cause angst is just so

i read this wrong, my mind skipped "and ending up liking it?" but i would make up scenarios in my head where the fl and ml suffer and make my own heart ache.
I am currently reading a series that I know for sure will end up in a heartbreak (the prologue is showing the ending that the ML will be killed by the FL). It's a love story that begins in childhood, but then due to circumstances & court politics, the ML ending up killing the FL's precious family. So the FL has this hatred against the ML, not really knowing the circumstances behind the massacre. But ML is a very dedicated lover, & love is a very strong feeling, even when it's tainted by hate. Right now we're reading the story as it's unfolded from the very beginning, & I will have my tissues ready, because I know that sadness is lurking at every corner. I don't know if I'll be able to take it well, since regret of what could have been is usually what gets to me the most. I'll probably end up crying my eyes out with snots smearing my face all over, but I just have to continue reading. Lol, god help me, I'm such a masochist.

It's a historical josei series. The title is "Yeohye". There are only 15 chapters so far, but I guarantee you that it is extremely heart-wrenching & sad, since I have seen the raws & even attempted to read some of it. At 15 chapters, there is not much romance being shown yet, but trust me, the love-hate relationship is at the core of the story. Mind you, it caters to the more mature audience, where the boundary of right & wrong can be very blurred, and the story can be very cruel at times, so it messes with your emotions so much more than shoujo series can.
Have any of you imagined a very sad ending for the fl and ml? Like, u wished they would break up and suffer from heartbreak and ending up liking it?? Like it feels so satisfying watching the being heartbroken while ur heart aching from it but you really really love it. Am I the only one who thinks that?
