You should definitely read the sequel. It's more nuanced and directly deals with the consequences of both characters personality flaws. It's a good read.
think of this manga as in a realistic way. the way you said "lovey dovey relationship" sounds like a happy-ending and there's no way in reality there's a happy-ending. each of us humans have a personal bad experience, especially when it comes to love. i'm sure you're one of them..
Honestly. Half way through I regretted picking this manga up. I could not stand how Kyouichi is being such an indecisive bastard and keeps on hurting everyone. And everyone is like cheating on their partners all together at the same time. Like wtf. But i guess it all 'worked out' at the end. I'd prefer to have a more lovey dovey relationship between both of them though. （￣へ￣）
