Isn’t it because he’s Hajun’s father, so he wants to help him ?? Like, bcz our MC loves Hajun. Idk, but it’s not like he can go back to the agency. He refused the order to kill Hajun in the last season + went rogue so it makes sense to switch to the other side and help the guy the agency is after. I could be wrong tho it’s been ages since I read the last season lmao

Wait I’m not even sure who the professor ur referring to is LNAKDHAJD sorry this is only relevant if ur referring to the father of Hajun (ML) who our MC is talking to at the table
