[SPOILERS IN THIS COMMENT] THIS!! the way they were both obsessed with her and tried to have her all for themselves . In the end, they both had a similar relationship with her....borderline strangers. Her and reynold had that brother-sister bond, her and vinter were friends (friend-zoned moment), and her and callisto were married....meanwhile those two were just not involved in her life (and rightfully so).

Why are they not involved in her life?

derrick and eclise both suck. I love Reynold's character development though and i love his bond with penelope. it was always so funny whenever reynold or daddy eckart would diss him bc they both knew that derrick ain't shit. I started calling the duke, daddy eckart as a joke....but now i can't stop.

Just things they did. I know that Eclis betrayed her but I have no idea why everyone's so angry at Derrick.

oh okay got ya. I'll start off with derrick first. Derrick has feelings for Penelope....to be more accurate he's obsessed with her sexually. Him and eclise both have similar obsessive feelings towards her which is why their endings were quite befitting of their characters. Derrick has had these feelings for her since the very beginning (i.e. when she was brought in). His feelings had began to manifest themselves as hate and he began to abuse her. He wants to keep her caged up all for himself. You know how derrick constantly says that Penelope does stuff for attention.....more specifically he means for his attention. After Yvonne is brought in (by eclise that bastard) and she poisoned penelope...derrick kept saying that penelope drank it for attention and she did it to herself. it got the point that daddy eckart had to tell him to shut up. callisto called them out for always blaming penelope whenever they had a problem. The truth in that situation was that Yvonne poisoned it and penelope knew it was poisoned but drank it anyways because she wanted to die. If her plan to die failed, she wanted to use it as an excuse to leave the duchy. Vinter saved her life. She would've died and no one else knew it was poison except for him because he gave her this necklace that would change colors around poison and he saw it change colors (penelope did too and she also knew what that meant). He was shaking the whole time he gave her the antidote. Penelope was unconscious for a bit and there was this discussion with all the male leads not including eclise. The whole time derrick was just like she did it to herself and callisto was just appalled at their response to her being poisoned. callisto had to leave due to eclise's schemes but the others still remained when penelope woke up. All the male lead's not including eclise and callisto were in the room. The duke asked her what happened. Penelope said that she did it to herself and that she didn't want to lose her position as lady of the house. She then said she should be punished and kicked out the duchy as punishment (see what she did there) and at this derrick lost it. He said she cant leave and the duke agreed because he didn't want her to leave either. Reynold thens said if you did it because you didn't want to lose your position, why did you suggest to be kicked out. reynold's actually smarter than he looks and he pays attention to details. penelope just ignored his question because she didn't have a response. in the end the duke and reynold ended up accepting her leaving (this is later though) and reynold even helps her escape but then derrick chased her lmao. Derrick never gets any character development and he just stays the same. Eclise as you know betrayed her and he also tried to have callisto killed. He believed that if he can't have her, then no one can. he also kidnapped penelope, which resulted in callisto and him fighting and callisto recused her. But that's pretty much what happened with them.

yw :) I tried to make it as brief as I could but still letting you know what kind of characters they are.

omg i'm such an idiot. wtf. i wrote all that and still forgot to include this. Penelope thought that Derrick hated her calling him brother (oppa) because of his love for yvonne....but that wasn't true. He never accepted her as his sister because of his feelings towards her. Reynolds behavior was because of yvonne which is why he changed and the same for daddy eckart. derrick's behavior had nothing to do with yvonne so he never changed his attitude.

This is the reason why I'm glad that Eclise and Derrick ended up not being able to interact with Penelope anymore.. seriously, i wanted them to suffer more...
