Can't agree more!! Involving romance and power of friendship at this tragic point will be utter disappointment. This is his battle as he has OFA and the MC. His growth was astonishing after he left UA, but him backing off his ground now to go back to UA alongwiy class A, will really kinda halt his progression.
Tbh. deku has been outshined COUNTLESS of times so i think he shoould have been given more spotlight because of this. don't get me wrong, I love friendship but when it comes to a more individualized growth It hink this deku is better, and I think it would help him reach further heights. The power of friendship is so overused already. From my standpoint, I dare to say that AFO would even take advantage of his classmates if they work together-- that's what's deku avoiding. Tbh not to downgrade anybody from the cast, i think this Deku solo growth arc is necessary for him to even validate and strengthen his character as MC.
think of Asta and Yuno from black clover. Many fans think Yuno is better than Asta in so many levels because he's drawn more (with cool powers and is even a prince; like wtf he's too OP) and is even the author's favorite to draw but think about the MC, where is his breaking point? Does he always need to catch up to others? DEFINITELY NOT. Which is why in the latest chapters of Black clover, I'm glad that the author is starting to focus on asta (fun fact: many people were also pissed, especially during 2018-2019, that there are no development of powers at all for Asta and it was all yuno yuno yuno)
Just like this example, we need a deku focused growth arcs wherein he's not always trying to catch up with Bakugo and Todoroki who are already both gifted. THE STRUGGLE IS IMPORTANT.
If anyone disagrees with me I respect your opinion guys.
