I think light hair hyung liked black hair hyung, but knew that Daon liked him, and black hair hyung liked Daon. So he asked him to “date” in front of Daon so he could feel close to him and also make 100% sure Daon didn’t start to like him instead, preventing him from stealing black hair hyung from him.
