I mean it makes more sense for him to stay a dude why would he pick a female when Rui loves him as his original self and always has? Him turning into a girl just made the relationship more of a possibility since shion never looked his way but now he knows that Rui has been in love with him this entire time so I agree if he stays a girl it defeats the purpose of the story of this manga it would be a horrible choice.
