I’m actually suspecting that the “breaking of ankle” might have a specific meaning. Something along the lines of making a claim or showing devotion. From how Blue Hair asked about the ankle specifically and the moment of time that it was broken, it seems to be more of a statement than “just” a breaking of limbs.
Still an insane thing to do though.

since the blue hair girl said that when the jin clan members break their limbs or anything they dont really care and she also said about "hobbies" so maybe the emperor was one of those yandere-ish obssessed type of lover? he thought it would be ok to break the mc's ankles because it means nothing to their own clan, so he prob dod that so mc wouldnt run away. and maybe this behaviour is because of the emperor not being able to socialise with people outside of the jin clan?
