There are definitely some details the show and manhua don't go in as much depth, specifically the rumors on Hua chengs origins and how gods ascend, I'd say read from the beginning.
the show and manhua follow the book very closely but i recommend reading the novel simply because they leave out a lot of Xie Lian's inner thoughts and he's so entertaining lol he's constantly not knowing whether to laugh or cry
