i feel as if the aliens are phrasing it like "we're letting you live even though we don't need you anymore, isn't that merciful? so you have to follow what we say and keep your species to a minimum to not waste resources!"
when it's more like, "we have to KEEP your population count as low as possible because you have insanely high reproduction rate& without us acting as consumers/predators to lessen the population anymore, you can easily repopulate the earth again and risk an uprising against us once you're no longer brainwashed and you recall the genocide we have committed against your race"
It's bc to them, us human aren't special enough anymore to be their food source and to their eyes we're probably just another species/animal living on earth now that the aliens have evolved and created unending meat for their kind.
