Well the sculptures and the paintings are a sort of show of what happens in the future. Since Louie is using the information of what has happened before , the author is showing what his actions changed in the future.
They're married for only three years, right? How do they have time to do all this stuff and she hasn't become pregnant like she entered this marriage for? For example, paintings and sculptures don't just pop up every few days; they could take months. And I know some of this can all be happening at the same time. She has to return to the north as some point as well.
I just don't have a grasp on the timeline for this story anymore. How long have they been married?
