What is placeholder? And I agree with you. I always feel irritated if the manga has update but actually it's only notice or something like that because I hope the new chapter.

Placeholder is basically so an another uploader won't steal/snipe or upload without permission. Showing that the chapter will be uploaded
It's always that damn placeholder whenever I go to this manhwa. In the end I never get to read the actual chapters
