It's because the manhwa lets a lot out, but in the novel is a rented helicopter that he books in case he needs a quick escape (If I remembering correctly). He let it on hold and call the pilot when he wakes up in the hospital before Hwan arrives. He gets a notification on the phone that it's already on the roof waiting and so he doesn't wait for Hwan to leave before escape, then he pretends to be asleep and run away when Hwan gets the call. The man has lots of plans to this escape on hold to be used if He's found by Hwan. And about the money, it's the money Hwan already paid him in the agreement.
