He needs a mana stone to do that. Both times that he got one after being tortured were in the presence of jiskar. They were small stones. He's shone to be weakened and frail, unable to do much on his own until after he escapes with christian and has regained some strength. He's still weak which is why they want to kidnap a priest. He also might not be able to withstand the pain to do it to himself cause of his weakened state. I mean cutting yourself does hurt afterall :/ and its the back of his neck, ouch. That or maybe the branding is enchanted and can't be healed

Why doesn't ray just cut off the skin with the slave branding and heal it after? That was literally the first thing i thought.
