The whole point was that Melody still had questions for her mom but decided not to ask because she didn't want to be hurt anymore. Understandable. Completely a-ok.
What ML was getting at is that her mom is going to die. This is Melody's last chance for closure of any kind (such as to find out her birthday, etc.). He doesn't want her to regret not asking in the future. Its essentially not getting hurt rn but having regrets vs getting hurt now but having no regrets. Arguing this was accomplished when the elders brought Melody to see her mother is a fairer argument to make than calling the whole situation bs.
No one is wrong here. Both boys want to help Melody in the way they know best, for Isaiah that's protecting her feelings and for ML that's growth to face what's in front of her. ML questioning if she's sure about not seeing her is comparable to making a decision you're not 100% about because it's the easier option rather than the one you want and you're friend going "ok, but are you sure you won't regret this?"
Isaiah is only portrayed as wrong because it undermines Melody's growth and severance from her mother via her own will.
I still find the whole situation bs because of the details. U've got the general motivation, esp what the ML is going for but that's not how the scene plays out especially when melody, as u also know, has concluded about her mother's situation during that elder's arc. That birthday motivation remains to be so needlessly rounabout and im aware ive been so emotionally charged about that coz holy fck, all that emotion and it concludes like that?? And yeah, id rather have ML not say anything like "you follow what others say" coz that is so fking dismissive of all the conviction she had. Maybe what i hate the most is the arc was ultimately used to put the ML in Melody's space, it's especially true when she left the jail and its the ML waiting. It's true that it's for melody's development but who tf is the ML who's only ever shut doors at her face, make her copy notes to leave a name but did those notes hold value to her, would u call that an actual accomplishment? In the end, my annoyance is the details that went through this arc that even if i agree with you with the author's intention, the details that annoyed me piled up and i just hated the arc.
Coz to me, it's so fake. Especially since the ML suddenly held so much influence to Melody's choices and actions and the accomplice joke sounds more like how it feels reading this and having no choice but deal with it coz ive already read it.
I'm wondering if some of the frustration is a translation issue or if you don't like ML (which is fair).
ML is a typical eldest son noble so the indirectness of his actions is expected. Conversation is a war and any weakness (emotion) can and will be used against them. He is also still a child and didn't like Melody at first. Petty? Sure. But then he shows another side. Her copying notes may have started petty but helped her feel like she belonged there.
The Elder arc gave Melody the insight that her mom Wouldn't change and this current one was great in that Melody talked back to her and shut her down. Melody really shows she's not taking her mom's bs anymore. The enjoyment of that scene is ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
It's the flow of it all, honestly. The details just had me frowning more and more.
╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ i've long cooled from the emotionally charged sentiment i had. But contrary to your enjoyment, i was boiling LMAO. Can't really bring myself to keep reading
(Do spoil me if u end up reading it until completion HAHA)
i understand moody's pov, especially regarding the bit where ML says "you follow what others say" because ... that's such bullshit ? and it is also just contradictory with what he was trying to prove to MC ?? like, i get the point, he said it to give her some sense of self-agency but ultimately it just took away all of it, because she ended up doing what ML asked her to do ? that whole arc just seemed like it was sooo forced and pushed on MC ,,,, left a rlly bad taste in my mouth;;;

But guise it as her own strength. I call BULL. She told that blonde her birthday was when them flowers bloomed. That mailman even had a touching sentiment about when u want to get those letters. The damn duke was so proud that she finally didnt let herself get hurt! And poor Isaiah had to be lied to FOR WHAT? For that blonde to maybe scold or warn her that "you follow what others say" which she denies but SIKE " how bout u ask ur mom?" And of course all the strength she had already shown dwindles coz the ML said so and they need some flimsy connection out of her birthday WHICH AFTER SOME USELESS MASOCHISTIC TRAUMA DIGGING SCENE AND FAKE ASS "goodbye, mom"— we conclude to her birthday being the same thing she said, WHEN THOSE GODDAMN FLOWERS BLOOM (that her bully had told her in her past TF?). Istg. That arc was so fake that i just wished that blonde was never written and Melody just wedded Loretta in the future. Coz what in the synthetic shoujo nonsense was that?! Isaiah was so damn cool but oh, lets have this weird ass siscon steal his thunder
So whatever. If its gonna compromise itself for some useless romantic "connection" then I doubt it'll be any different for the appearance of a tsundere boy and all that useless angst
