You see that's my gripe with novels /manhua like this

It's always weird how they can just instantly toss away the child that they raised for several decades like that. I'm not defending the boy or anything but I've always read novels that had similar setting like this and thought damn show some difficulty or struggle when you come to the realization that your child is not actually your child. I just don't understand how you can just instantly abandon that child you know? (Again not defending that little bastard I just want to see some internal conflict / struggle going on)

YES! I was thinking the same, even if he's not blood related they've raised him and loved him for 19 years.
    he's their son after all.

Right? It's just so bizarre to me how 19 years is nothing to them and it just seems so odd to me. What that kid did is incredibly horrific and wrong but... Where the hell is the conflict where is the "how could he do such a thing?" Or the "There's no way...How could he..?" If I was in their situation I would just be confused, hysterical, sad, betrayed, and angry. I wouldn't be able to process anything.

true! I hope the author will clarify all this. we NEED it.
There should be something like a family reunion, they have to talk about everything, their kid (not bio) really did cruel thing to the white-haired boy, but suddently do not recognize the child they raised is not the right thing to do.

Eh I don’t believe that last part “not the right thing to do.” If he had been innocent and didn’t know at all or didn’t bully the MC, then I could understand it not being right. But it’s because he knew and did all that, it feels like a huge betrayal. Even if I had conflicting thoughts internally, externally I’d still do the right thing which was cut off the terrible people in my life, and think about the memories to myself. Eventually those feelings will pass. The family has every right to cut him off and be angry, he and his family stole their biological family member and tore away YEARS from being together.

An nan yi isn’t alone either, he still has his own family to go back to, that’s obviously been supporting him with it since he’s been in contact with his mother. I think y’all are sympathizing with him as if he’s another character in a similar situation from different stories, but y’all still need to remember that he’s not a good person. He’s receiving all the karma he deserves and he doesn’t deserve any redemption (from the family at least). He also ruined MC’s life in the past seeing how far he could go.

I dont understand where you think we are saying he shouldn't be cut off (as I emphasize multiple times I honestly think he's a terrible human being). What we're saying is we want to see some internal conflict or the process of them cutting off that person. And believe me I know very well how difficult it is to find out that someone who's your relative is actually a freaking monster and I know very well the painful feelings of having to cut them off and never communicate with them because I had to do that. But what I want to see is the process of them going through it . That would be it would show the characters complexities. For them to do it so swiftly without any thought into it was just so unnatural to me.

Tbh I feel like it should be expected with manhua (not historical), since it’s common for modern setting manhua to not have much depth or great writing. OR it could be possible that it’s an “act first, think later” where they acted what they should do first and then later we might see them actually thinking about it. Anyways, I was mainly replying to the part where you said “it’s not the right thing to do.” Which made it sound as if his character deserved anything less than karma

it's not too bizzare tbh, many people also split or divorced with similar thing like this, you might be confused if you were told, but yan yan has proof, the parent also think thoroughy, like what she remembered with the nurse, and they're not disown him right away, they also confused to see their real son, the fact is not they hate nanyi right away, just chasing their real son while being confused and they became angry when their real son is nearly died at the hands of the kid they raised all the time, hence the mom slapped him while telling that comment, we also see many couple split up when they knew their partner cheated with solid proof right away, it's still sensible to me at least
