I thought that too a little bit because of one chapter where she was laying down in just her underwear and bra while holding his photo but the more i read the more i understand. They have a close bond. Just like how her son was protecting his mom from having a deepfake of her being spread around by his bullies. Not to mention how the mother saw her son take his last breath before he was ran over and she couldn’t do anything to help him. She had to helplessly watch her son die infront of her eyes. That very clearly broke something in her. I don’t think she obsessed with her son i think she is more obsessed with getting her son the justice he deserves and making his bullies feel the way they made him feel.
