Based on the latest chapter, if you can't handle the story now - you'd be better off stopping at this point.

This tone does not change, it may even get darker and more psychological. I would say this is not the type of story that starts dark and there's a really happy outcome, rather the characters are messed up and simply come to terms with that. But that's one of the aspects I love because very few fantasy stories seem to take into account when dealing with dark subjects that most do not come away better from situations like that.
