I usually watch slice of life anime and those tend to have similar themes. Poco's Udon World is kinda similar to this. It's about an adult child coming back to his late father's restaurant and finding a small boy sleeping in the abandoned kitchen. The boy turns out to be a tanuki and the son takes care of him
