I don’t get it though, esp bc I haven’t read the beginning in a while - Raymond seems to be extremely intelligent in the latest chapters, why did he not realize how his behavior in front of the emperor never helped Dorothy and try to coddle her in other ways instead? He obviously can’t overtly confront the Emperor so it just didn’t make sense for him to be that dense only regarding these few points and not check on her more discreetly? it’s just paradoxical that we get that much introspection into his mushy feelings yet also absolutely no indications of him resenting their father and condemning the emperor’s behavior emotionally speaking, even if he can’t publicly say it obviously. I love Ray because he seems to be the only one who truly loves Dorothy to that amount but his behavior wasn’t truly helpful in any way until now

still, he doesn't deserve the hate he gets. No one deserves to be hated just because they didn't defend somebody, also the story is not even finished yet, why Hate him. It's obviously the fathers fault not Ray he was just a child. Heck he was even hated by the Fl for no reason at all. Just because someone is treated better than you doesn't mean you can to hate them. Is him getting stabbed by her sword not enough of a Evidence to see that he truly loved her? if it's not then I don't know what is anymore.

Also just because you have a trauma and unfortunate turn of events in your life, it doesn't mean you can hurt others, her being a tyrant killing MASS amounts of people in the story, is literally RED FLAG on its own, she is obviously so focused on one persons hate for her she forgot that there are also other people on her side that loves her.

Preach manami. The boy literally died with a smile on his face after being killed by his own sister. And he would probablydo it again. That's a kind of love you only get when your ready to give ur all for someone. Showing them love even after they betrayed YOU. Pleeeease. In my opinion Ray is one of the characters that love her the most. Even more than she loves herself .

I understand what you're saying. I think, honestly, most of the hate comes from the fact that we're in Dororthy's POV. Ray hasn't really done anything wrong, but because of they way everyone treats BOTH of them, Dorothy hates him. When you're reading, it feels pretty damn justified, but when you take a step back and actually think about the situation, you realize that she's an extremely hurt child lashing out at someone who MAY have everything she wants, but hasn't actually done anything wrong. The reader's hatred of Ray stems from Dorothy's hatred.

its the truth though he might have been a dumb brother for the fl, but for me he is the best. The fl has a life of her own to make her own decisions, she is not always a child, did she ever think her brother also wants to be put in that situation, heck he even deprecates himself saying how better it would be if he is not the crown prince, because he felt like he didn't deserve it. She wanted to be LOVED but she throws away the people who actually LOVED her even more than herself.

I objectively think Ray is one of the few morally respectable characters in this webtoon. Dorothy’s mistreatment never ever justified what she did to him or any other character, even from her POV. Let’s not even talk about the father, if he can be called as such. Two things though:
1/ I don’t think being confused with Ray’s thought process goes against your opinion. I for myself certainly don’t hate him nor implied that he deserved hate, but the incoherences aren’t explained in the webtoon. His dynaics with Dorothy are badly written and laid out so far, which is too bad because he has shown really touching affection and selflessness for her. That probably plays a role in people’s conflicted feelings towards the comic.
2/ Dorothy spends her second life beating herself up about her insane resentment, so I’d say the unexplainable hate is being sort of explored in the webtoon at the very least. Hopefully the novel is better at this.

I don't usually comment but I think a lot of people at least dislike Ray because he's not the best at respecting boundaries and reading emotions.
Like, the situation with his sister and how people treat her is plain as day. And she's made it clear she doesn't like what he is doing (being overly affectionate, overly caring etc.) but instead of respecting that she doesn't want to be close to him and just letting go he keeps pushing.
Him being a kid doesn't excuse it, and neither does him doing it out of kindness or a place of caring. If he really cared and understood he would wait for her to reach out if she chooses to.
Please note that I can only speak from personal experience, and that people being pushing and overly kind espically in a situation where they aren't the active victim being purposefully harmed is quite frankly hell. Espically when they are being, for lack of better words obtuse and somewhat self centered in their approach.

But it doesnt make sense to me, as someone who is the "black sheep" of the family, if someone wants to approach me id be very glad, its not a excuse either to hate on someone specially if that person is your brother. Also ray is not pushing anything, he knows his sister is suffering, but instead of ignoring that he shows love instead he is trying to tell her she is not alone in this world. Also that also doesnt excuse her for the crimes she did, please dont justify her wrongs just because of trauma and and bad past experiences.
STOP HATING ON RAY, HE DIDNT DO ANYTHING TO DESERVE THIS.

I totally get what you mean and you're very right. It's not that I hate ray I just feel so frustrated, because in my own experience I have almost the same situation as the fl always getting compared to others and the other sibling is getting more affection. Yes, the fl crimes shouldn't be justified but I also get where she is coming from. The reason why I felt so frustrated is that ray should've tried to confront his father about the way he treat his sister. I don't really know how to explain it further lmao
why is everyone hating on Ray? saying he didn't try to rescue his sister from their father? what could a child possibly do at that point even? also if you read carefully he does defend her and try to reason with the emperor, but y'all are saying he doesn't care? give him a frickin break, he died in his sister's hands in the first life but still he never resented her, he still loved her until his dying breath. I understand you sympathize with Dorothy but don't hate on the brother, Hate their FATHER it's his fault Dorothy became a tyrant.
