From the novel it’s understood that the ghost is just one of the descendants, it’s not the first emperor. Maybe it’s different in the manhwa. No idea yet. The flash-back is apparently very different than in the novel and some characters have different personalities. Apparently in the novel the ML is not as prince-like as in the manhwa. Also Ranon didn’t love his wife in the novels and is using her for her powers as the goddess, in the manhwa it seem he as some attachment to her.
