I dont think the romance tag is for the side couple anyway, its super rapey and its completely romanticised. This author has good writing skills but i wish they could give us a psychological without the romanticisation of sexual violence. I mean is human psychology selective? No, they should present it evenly to deepen the plot as well as to not sexualise SA/rape. Its not like i can do anything about it but the dynamics between the main couple are just way better thought out, it feels like the author added a side couple on a whim or something.

I appreciate your take on this because the main couple is structured and explained in a way where care is inherent to their relationship the sex is not intended as way to take something from other or use each other just for sex they want to be closer but the repression in not only the seme's relationship with the uke but with friends, family and peers resulted in him developing this complex as an outlet like dr jekyll and mr hyde if one is so perfect it makes sense that the other will embody all the flaws of the other not to mention the seme is only hurting himself by not telling anyone his feelings like most people with mental illnesses they usually end up hurting themselves moreso than hurting others.
The side couple feels like the author saw populer BL couples and said "I should probably add that for more flavor" rather than being complementary to the main couple or contrast to the main couple it just feels really amateur like baby's first yaoi like "this guy doesn't like this guy but then they have sex and now they like each other because only people that love each other have sex and deep down that other guy secretly wanted the sex he just didn't know it until he tried taking it up the ass" its like disturbingly cliché for the eggshells the main couple have to walk on to not be rapey and sexual assault-y but this couple feels like all the care of a child's arts and crafts project was put into it like there is a lot of passion and effort into something thats just dogshit.

Exactly, the author is very careful with the main couple but as soon as its the side couple its like reading a BL from the 2000's or some shit. That dumbass 'he was straight until he met me ' troupe is so creepy cause its almost always rapey. The main couple borders on SA but both characters do the exact same thing to each other in different ways, one blackmailing and the other taking advantage of someones mental health issues. Their actions are just as bad as each others and both of them are very well done especially Yura with his DID and split-personality (?) disorder. I really think the author added a rapey couple to keep braindead fujoshits reading since they cant appreciate intricate, complicated stories.
They both suck but in different ways seme is a weird little pervert that got a boner for fictional character that then proceeded to pursue the uke just because he looked similar to the character the ick and ew factor cannot even begin to describe the chills this guy gives me. The uke is not great either pretty standard inferiority complex but at least he's not sick, fucked up and pushy like the seme who basically just steamrolled into this guy's life because of a fetish. It's like a guy sexually harassing a girl with short hair and a flat chest " because she looks like his fave character" its just really creepy doesn't matter if it's fiction it's not entertaining or compelling to read because all I can think is "ew","ick", "no","no just no","barf", "fuck no","what the fuck", "I hate this guy" and "jesus fucking christ not again". I don't mind rapey or pushy yaoi if the personalities mesh well and the chemistry is entertaining but this is so vanilla and bland and standard sometimes that its just like get it over with because you know damn well they're gonna fuck and the angsty uke is gonna like it so much that he's gonna become the seme's tsundere little uke and the uke will find self fulfillment in being a bottom bitch and the seme is gonna find self worth in railing the other guy. It also doesn't help that I'm not really a fan of this trope/couple dynamic of "I'm gonna put you in your place by fucking you in the ass you entitled narcissistic fuck" because sex is usually not the way to go about it the only way I can ingest this trope is when after/sometime during deed they're just soft, cuddly and loving to make up for the ruff sex because this is a romance and I'd like them to be nice to each other without the "you look nice today" "go die and then rot in hell" during or after the sex please. When the pair is'nt not vanilla then it's just ew. In comparison the main couple is angsty with miscommunication and some cool psychological shit that's like ooOoooooOooo not realistic but OoooooOoooooOoooo like is he going to succumb to his desires or is he going to tell our uke everything in a beautiful confession or will he just die mentally and only be stuck with his shameless wants. I also like how friendly they are and how the couple's main conflict is caused by not wanting to hurt each other I think that's really sweet and nice. I also prefer main couple's character designs.
