The novel went into great detail that it was his father, the king who told him that she did all these horrible things and is a huge liar, to never believe her, to be careful because she is cunning snake. I didn't finish the novel, but the king was sus af.
How he treated her before and even now by questioning her integrity based on rumors (and as a bastard himself he should know how vicious high society is, even subjected to baseless rumors himself) was really shitty of him, and from the beginning scene in future chapters he still treats her a bit like an object and disdain for her opinion. That said he does stop when she says no. Anyways, i like how ch 10 brought up he literally suffers from delirium and has a compromised judgment. I can't blame him for the excessive paranoia from this marriage of continence or directing his rage at a suitable target. He needs therapy not a wife in a vulnerable position. I actually really like this detail as it brings to mind things we overlook easily.
