Everyone’s memories are different lol. Some may not remember others well or things from the past- others can remember clearly. You also have to take into account that they both were REALLY young kids, not middle to highschool age where they’d likely remember easier. They didn’t spend years together as well. They spent more time apart than they did together, so it makes a lot more sense they wouldn’t recognize each other. Especially the FL’s part since the boy she knew grew up into a man who’s appearance changed more and also voice changed. I have classmates that look extremely different from how they looked back in middle school. One guy I knew had a baby face back then but now his facial structure changed completely and has a defined square jawline and more sculpted features. He looks very different and despite the similarities- if I didn’t know his name, I would only think he looked a bit similar.
