Some of the concubines are women, even if they're rare. I believe that is established pretty early on, that the emperor has both women and men as concubines, even if the former is rarer. For example, I'm pretty sure the new wine-red-haired character is a woman - both a concubine and the right hand person to the emperor.
I get the confusion though, it can be really annoying at times. For me the past few chapters have been confusing bc they've referred to Sanya/Kanghee's (idk if they changed her name properlu, hard to tell since she gets adressed by her title more) og parent as a mother, yet I remember them being her father.
I guess it doesn't bother me as much as it should since my native tongue doesn't have gendered pronouns? I've heard it's the same for korean, so if people are using mtl and not bothering to check the context for details, it makes sense why the pronouns are all over the place. (I'm adding the details bit bc I know MTLs can work if the person doing it puts a bit more effort into it.)
You can tell they are using it as sometimes I've seen the title "mama" been replaced with "mother" and it's just,,, bruh. Yeah i can make out the meaning somewhat but man I can't wait for an official TL or a scan group to get to this.

The fuck up on the pronouns are gonna make me puke from trying to understand. I know that the concubines are male and the emperor is female. But they keep using the wrong pronouns when translating.
