Yeah the story was going there and trauma bonding is predictable because Dan has an innate need for attachment, intimacy, and security because he has been alone and beaten down his whole life, but it just popped up in the chapters. There was no moment of foreshadowing, no once-off romantic thought, just pure fear for 20-something chapters and then BOOM, he enjoys the sex once and starts falling in love. It was out of nowhere because there was no actual build-up, and it happened before we even got to see an iota of grace from Jaekyeong. Like Dan almost gets assaulted and he tells him he bought him with cold hard cash 5 or 6 chapters ago. All Dan could see when he looked at him was pure and utter terror. Then he gets turned on once and has a crush? Nah. That was plot pushing and we all know it.
