I can't even trust myself
Nah, not men. Just men who not only don't seem too uncomfortable with getting hero treatment just because they (allegedly) acted like a decent human when no one else would do so... Real heroes do NOT feel any joy in being the only ones stepping up to do the right thing, the lack of other people with the guts to do that is something that normally UPSETS them... not something they feel any pride in.
