Yea you can survive a slit throat if it’s not cut deep enough, which it obviously wasn’t

I've read somewhere that a man almost lost his head because of a mistake while handling an industrial machine. The machine cut his neck to more than half, but he managed to drove to the hospital while holding his head in place.
He was already too old to when it happened, in his 60's or something, And he survives.
