I think its cuz his parents told him about friends and so thought them beating him was was like making friends since he doesn't know the concept of friends, and he wants to make his parents happy, if that makes sense

im a little confused. so kirishima was a nice kid, but it was fully based not on him sincerely being nice but just cuz. it doesn't seem like he would try to start fights or purposely get on anyone's bad side. but then he likes being beat up? or was that fight what sparked it?
