Oh, I'm not sure to be honest- didn't read the light novel but i should think so. Also. I am referring to the original anime and not the 2012 remake which was cnacelled.

Warning, its start off a bit weird because originally the mangaka was just drawing for fun with no real storyline our intent, but then her work became famous and so she developed a story line for the two main character and well we're currently at 183 chapters with a living masterpiece.
