MC is a product of rape and it's completely understandable he does not want to be constantly reminded of it. a truly vindictive ruler would probably have ordered for his assassination.

Yep exactly! The world isnt just white and black and reality is often grey. Although i don't like the emperors reaction/action , what he did is understandable because it makes sense why he's acting like that.

And this is my opinion but I'm pretty sure the emperor doesnt even realise that mc has been chronically ill. All he sees is the mother and the revenge he wants. Yes mc got caught up in that situation but i can't really blame the emperor due to the circumstances because in a sense he is also a victim. ( his siblings killed for eg) its gonna fuck a person up and the least of his worries is gonna be a child who looks like the empress .
The charecter sketch of the emperor is interesting because it's a constant tug of war and is a HIGHLY realistic behaviour.
Also let's not forget the emperor doesn't really have power from what I have gathered, he shouldn't have been able to take mc from the empress even if he tried

I know everyone hates the father but honestly i think his reaction is fine , yes our mc is suffering but considering what we know happened - how he thinks of the empress and rightly so the same courtesy extends to the mc ( mind u the emperor doesn't know why he's sick, I'm pretty sure he just got to know he's sick and probably thinks its a cold) its a logical conclusion and although not the best of reactions it is HIGHLY realistic
So can u blame the father because he was raped , couldn't marry tge love of his life (atleast he didn't marry the mistress like what happened with Charles and diana) and forced to see as his beloved relatives all died one by one. So he doesn't wanna see his son and thus neglected him.
What he's doing is trying to save the rest of his 'subjects' . The majesty is stuck just like the mc but one is ignoring while the other has to take it.
I feel like he's also a victim and the empress should just roll and die - actually i hope she's tortured like omfg do not give her a easy death , i want like 20 chapters dedicated to her being tortured
