To my understanding, whenever she would mention her mother's intuition regarding her son the husband would dismiss it as paranoia. When he follow her to where the son's location he said you were right but he will be fine and dismiss it as a "worry rat". When he died he "did everything he could" to keep his marriage but we all know he didn't. (￣ε(#￣)Σ
