Rereading this and chapter 24 breaks my heart.
The stepbrother saw Soongap's mother commit suicide by hanging herself when he was younger (which is traumatising for a child already), and when he saw Soongap at the cliff contemplating suicide, he became the little boy again, desperate to not lose any more of his family.
If only he wasn't an incest freak, I would've pitied his character and rooted him to get a happier ending... I have mixed feelings about him T-T
