I think there is smth else going on maybe her transformation makes her taller or she is a commoner who isn't used to heels. Just like Garnet is proportionally different than his actual self.

i cant remember very well but i remember when ruby guy responded to her in a way like he was foreshadowing something about her. She might be one of those bullied in the family which is why she has low self-esteem. Amethyst means calm, courage, peace, so shes that timid quiet girl but courageous enough to say that she loves him
