There were hints along the way, that Skylar didn’t actually mind being around Cirrus. Or how he blushed a few chapters back when he was alone in the classroom with Ciruss and he was asleep. They could’ve built it up more, but it really wasn’t sudden. It’s just that he also still liked the red head so it was easily missed maybe.

Also to be fair, he only knows that he wants to be with him so far. He’s not sure it’s love yet. Hopefully him realizing it’s love will be something that we’ll get to see grow more:
