I agree with you! This trope has been around forever that it could honestly be a genre on its own. I feel like Jinx in particular is getting a lot of attention because of its art. It’s getting read by a broader audience that isn’t use to reading toxic stories and isn’t into to them, which is fine. I personally read all genres but do like a more toxic and messy storyline so it doesn’t phase me as much. Doesn’t mean I still don’t heavy sigh when I see the ML being an absolute asshole.

I mean the thing is people had the same energy from Jinx to this. The massive difference is how far the story line went because people was hating on this ml ever since he first raped the mc. Now the ml is trying to do right by him and shown that for a whole season. And besides, this ml never forced the mc to have sex for money and put him in terrible situations to have sex, and actually be possessive of him while ‘not giving af’ about him at the same time. And even then, just because bl usually have it, don’t mean that people have to just like it without commenting.

Nah my comment wasn’t meant to put people off from posting their opinions and like venting their frustrations with the story and it’s characters. My comment was more so for the people who were being very hostile to those who were enjoying the story etc. The jinx comment section is starting to become so hostile with people who (obviously) don’t like the story and are telling people who do to kill themselves and other things along those lines. It wasn’t to defend anything, I’m very aware of the differences between both stories and I criticize them as well and don’t perpetuate those standards and dynamics with anyone in reality and of course I understand where some are coming from it just sounds redundant when they also tell you to kys with it lmaoo. I love to comment on stories and have debates on what’s gonna happen next you know? it’s one of those like fun things to you do at the end of each new chapter where you’re like “omg what’s gonna happen next??” Or “wow that fucking sucked I hope my cinnamon roll gets a happy ending” but not with the intention of and going out of my way to put others down in it.

You explained this so well!!! It’s really the hostility of people who don’t like it vs their opinions of the story. Like you can not like something and say you don’t like it, because I do also like discussing stories and talking about them with other people and seeing it from different points of view. But the comment section in Jinx is toxic as hell because I also got told to kill myself lmao.

Omg I honestly never seen people say to kill themselves, so that’s definitely new. I honestly think the popularity of the author and due to the controversy of the story makes people so passionate about it? Not saying it’s an excuse, but it seems like the author of jinx is routing for a trauma story and the ml will just say sorry for less than ten chapters and everything within be fine. but yea i totally get what you’re saying! just wanted to pointed out there’s a MAJOR difference in the storylines, so hence why people would react differently

Literally not this one but there has been others same situation but different characters but that one you mentioned is the OG of one being debt for that person when I saw that he paid everything off from. His debt Literally that manga popped into my mind also they had their issues too. But in the end it worked out they are talking,communicating as well different characters come and go another thing about yaoi is the that one side is where everything is fine nothing bad is happening but on the other side it's where things are not going well but one still reads it because they would like to know what happens next.
