Same! I really wish they didn’t result it to her being angry about the king betraying her and instead for wiping out her kind. While it seems like it’s a large part, a lot of it seems like she’s upset about the betrayal. I wish we didn’t have powerful women who are well written being reduced to this because of some guy T_T

Couldnt agree more ngl, writing was well done, yes, but that just had to be the story of why she wants revenge? In some way, she's kind of selfish, her kin went extinct because of her and now shes angry because she let herself get fooled after so many people warned and reached out to her. It just feels like to me shes not thinking very smartly. Some would say "bcs she was blinded by love", her kind warned her and tried to stop her, but she wanted to flaunt her powers for her own and gain(and again) let herself be used like a tool.
But nevertheless, give me something to think that shes a "bad bitch" or whatever cause i really dont think shes like that.

This is exactly the reason why people say Love is blind. No matter how bad the situation, especially for women at that time period love made them unable to understand the bad Possibilities and they give their all to the one they love. Taking real life example for once, the people I have around me have had toxic boyfriends who didn't put a single effort and I was one of the people who gave them advice but they wouldn't listen till the end when they're betrayed and come to me and say that I was right all along. I've come across this situation too many times and I know that most people in love become blind. What she did is so common for many people to d9

I have to disagree, her emotions don’t maker stupid or less strong she’s still calculated and, might I add, has successfully taken the country by the mf balls in one of her lives.
I think she’s made to represent girlhood and girlhood is making bad decisions in love for a lot of people. As such I hope we will see an alliance between her and the fl, which is unheard of in this genre.
I get the feeling that our fl is a witch

Using the "love is blind" as an excuse in entertainment is like beating a dead unicorn. "The heart wants what it wants" idea is dangerously misguiding. You actually do get to choose who you love. Toxic relationships come from the lack of understanding that initial attraction is nothing more than that. In order to have a long lasting marriage or relationship, you have to actively choose the other person even after 10, 20, 30 years have passed and your initial attraction has cooled down. Being in love with a misconception of what love is leads to failure. This is just a story with another naive teenager that thought she knew what love was willingly giving everything away to an asshole that was using her. She chose that. Her heart didn't force her. She was just too immature and stubborn to accept what she had with that asshat was not love. Letting someone use and abuse you is not love. Clinging to your ideals and hoping that the person that put your in prison is going to save you from that same prison is not love. It's just fantasy, denial, and fanaticism. Any sort of "but I was in love" justification is soaked is in immaturity. She wants to get revenge for something she caused due to her own immaturity. That just makes her look silly.
There's more reasons for this being a case of bad writing. For instance, it makes no sense that the mages didn't have rules that impeded Anita from using magic like she did.

In my huge paragraph not once did I say I support and encourage the notion of "love is blind". I'm saying it is a thing. There are times when we can't choose who we love, I'm saying that because I've actually seen my loved ones like that. Knowing that they're being used, they continue to be in the situation saying "I can't help it, I still love/like him" its truly frustrating to see your loved ones drowning deeper into their situation. I'm not saying that this is a good thing, I'm saying that the writing is not terrible, its writing about a reality which maybe you can't relate to but doesn't mean it's doesn't happen

No Im not saying that you are saying that it's good. Im saying that I don't agree with stories using premises based on "i cant help who I love so Im just going to foolishly go about it" when that idea itself is not a reflection of what love is. Once you peel that layer you realize she didn't throw her life and her kins away because she was in love. She threw them away because she was chasing pure fantasy. Instead of recognizing that she fucked up, she portrays herself as a noble pure person in her flashback. There's no accountability or maturity on her end even after all she caused. That's to me what makes her stupid. I can understand that this is something that does happen in real life and often. But just because it happens often it doesn't mean it's not stupid. As a kid I would've totally accepted this story and sympathized with Anita. But today I'm repelled by how we try to normalize and sympathize with this sort of misguided behavior. I just can't see this as anything but a child throwing a tantrum after being hit with the consequences of their dumb actions. The fact that the consequences are so dire just makes it even more foolish, and the writing all the more terrible. I cannot believe that Anita was the first mage kid that felt into this sort of delusion. I cannot see how there weren't rules already set up in place to prevent/handle this situation. It doesn't make sense that all the other mages just simply warned her and didn't take matters into their own hands seeing what was going on. At least with Ariel in the Little Mermaid I can see how Triton's actions pushed Ariel into a situation where she felt like she had no adult she could rely on and ultimately made a dumb decision. But here there was none of that.

As you stated yourself, she was in an ABUSIVE relationship with a man for an EXTENDED period of time, she hasn’t had time to learn what escaping that looks like. Staying in an abusive relationship may be SELFISH but it is not a choice, there is science to support that.
In my humble opinion she isn’t making decisions because of her ex though, it’s a matter of him killing her family. As displayed in the passage she would’ve stayed and continued to love him had he not killed her people (upon other things).
But we’re both entitled to our opinions and I can completely understand why you feel that way, I just hope we get a good story and like you said not some lazy writing. Something like oh fl is witch and they ally and blah blah would be much preferred over “oh she’s evil kill her”!

Ya I understand. My issue is more so that before the relationship even got abusive, she was already a doormat. But ya Im just hoping for some good consistent writing. I agree that the whole killing her just cause she's the villain wouldn't be my favorite. Would be nice to get more character development for Anita.
"I fell in love with a person that used me" is such a stupid motivation whether it be in this story or in "I Became the Wife of the Monstrous Crow Prince". Both those girls were warned by others, felt at some point that things were not ok, and still decided to ignore it and ruin themselves and their loved ones. It's such a turn off. I would much rather the main motivation be to get revenge on the bloodline that exterminated all her kin as it had been hinted before. Not the "Im gonna throw a tantrum and destroy this country because I fell in love with an asshole". Now I can't even take her seriously. All she is is just an angsty little girl instead of the smart calculating villain she was at the beginning.
